    2 Tablespoons butter, unsalted
    1 crisp apple, such as a Braeburn or Crispin, cored and diced with skin
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    2 TBSP Dark Brown sugar
    3 C water
    2 C quick cooking oats
    1/2 C wheat germ
    1/4 C flax seed, whole or ground
    1/4 C dried apples, chopped


Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan over medium heat. Add the fresh apple and cook until lightly browned.
Add cinnamon and sugar and cook until dissolved.
Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil.
Add the oats, wheat germ, flax, and dried apples. Stir constantly for 2 minutes until oats are cooked and dried fruit is slightly plumped.

Makes four servings.
