    8 cups water
    1 lb green split peas
    3 large diced carrots
    3 large garlic cloves, chopped
    2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup honey
    1 lb ham bone
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 medium turnip, chopped
    1 tsp dried dill

    4 slices rye bread, cubed
    olive oil cooking spray


In a large pot combine water, ham bone, green split peas, onions, carrots, turnip, and garlic. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for1 hour until peas are tender and soup is thickned. Remove hambone, cool, and pull off meat. Add meat to soup. While soup is cooking heat oven to 350. Spread bread into a shallow pan and spray with cooking spray. Toss and spray again. Bake 15-20 minutes tossing once until croutons are crisp and golden. Stir in salt (to taste), dill,, and honey. Serve with croutons.
