A staple in many Japanese soups. A staple in many Japanese soups.
Number of Servings: 1

    2 tbsp Dried Kelp
    1.5 cups of water

Soak the kelp in the water for at least 15 minutes. Then slowly bring to a boil with the lid on the saucepan. Remove from heat once boiling and set aside for at least 10 minutes. Strain out the kelp. This should make about 500 mL of kombu dashi, or about a cup and a half. This is not really to be consumed by itself, although it doesn't taste too bad. Instead, you can combine it with other dashi to make soups.
