    Chickpeas (garbanzo beans), 6 cup
    Olive Oil, 3 tbsp
    Hot Pepper Sauce, 3 tsp
    Paprika, 1 tsp
    Pepper, black, 1 tsp
    Salt, 1 tsp


All the spices are "to taste"! Like spicy... add more pepper sauce. Like it more peppery... add more black pepper or paprika.


Preheat oven to 450. Drain and rinse chick peas. In a small bowl, mix together oil, hot pepper sauce, paprika, salt and pepper. Place chick peas in large bowl. Pour sauce over peas and stir to coat well. Pour evenly onto a large cookie sheet. Place in oven. Cook for 15 mins, rotate pan and cook for additional 15 minutes. Use your judgement when making the sauce: some people like the peas hotter (more pepper sauce) or peppier (more pepper). Peas should be browned but not burnt. Remove from oven, let rest for 5 minutes and serve. Can be kept in sealed container for several days. Place in bowl and reheat in oven to serve.

  • This sounds terrific!! Gonna try it . . . may cut back on the salt just a little: and would that be 3 large cans of chickpeas, drained?? - 11/27/11

    I use four 15 oz cans of beans. You might also want to try 1/2 the hot pepper sauce and then add as needed. Also, I use a gas range so cooking times on a electric range might be different.
