Introduction
This is freaking AWESOME! A friend gave me this recipe which he adapted from other recipes. This is designed for a bread machine, but can be baked in oven.Use without egg for a slightly more dense bread. It's delicious either way! This comes in low fat, low sodium, lower carb and utterly delicious. This is freaking AWESOME! A friend gave me this recipe which he adapted from other recipes. Number of Servings: 12
Ingredients
-
1 cup warm water (not too hot or it will kill the yeast)
1/8-1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 packet or 1 ¼ teaspoons yeast
1 Tablespoon wheat gluten
1 Large Egg (Optional)
Directions
We made this in a bread machine, however we had also just used the bread machine to mix the dough and then turned it into a prepared loaf pan for a more traditional bread.
Let Yeast, gluten, egg (if using) warm to room temperature.
Put wet ingredients into Bread Machine first, then add flour. Create a well in flour and add yeast and gluten. Set the Machine to Large Wheat Loaf and walk away!
Serving Size: Approximately 12 2 oz. slices
