Introduction

Well, Makhani apparently means butter. But this has no butter. It's very low cal and tasty though. Found this on recipezaar - recipe by Charishma Ramchandani. Wanted to share here because it's so healthy! Well, Makhani apparently means butter. But this has no butter. It's very low cal and tasty though. Ingredients

1 Cup Dal (Lentils - any kind, I used half yellow, half brown)
    1 medium sized onion, grated
    2 green chilies, sliced
    1/4 teaspoon ginger, grated
    1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
    1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    salt
    2-3 small tomatoes

Directions

Mix and wash dals well.
Soak for 30 minutes.
Pressure cook with soaking water till soft (use the instructions with your pressure cooker. It took like 8 minutes for us)
Mash the dals while hot, if they aren't already. If they are mashed, strain them through a small sieve.
Heat oil in a pot.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Once they stop spluttering, add onion, ginger and green chillies.
Stir fry till soft.
Fold in red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
Mix well and then add the tomatoes.
Once tomatoes get cooked, add salt followed by the dals.
Mix well and allow to boil.
Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
