    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 medium onion - chopped
    1 garlic clove - finely chopped
    1/8 to 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
    1 can (28 oz) tomatoes in puree - coarsely chopped
    3 tablespoons vodka
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
    1 cup frozen peas (thawed)
    1 pkg (16 oz) penne or rotini
    1/2 cup loosely pack fresh basil - thinly sliced


Cook pasta to desired firmness while cooking sauce as indicated below.

Heat oil over medium heat. Add onion - cook until tender, add garlic and crushed red pepper. Cook until slightly browned. Stir in tomatoes, vodka and salt. Heat to boiling and then reduce to simmer. Let sauce thicken for 15-20 minutes. Add heavy cream and peas, heat to boiling.

Combine pasta and sauce, sprinkle with basil and Parmesan (if desired)
