Ingredients
-
1 8 oz pkg low fat cream cheese (Neufchatel)
1/2 cup I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (stick)
2 tsp Garlic Powder
2 cups Nonfat Milk
3-6 oz Pecorino Romano Cheese or Parmesan Cheese (to taste)
1/8 tsp black pepper
Tips
I use the 3 oz of Romano Cheese because I do not like my Alfredo to have too much of a "bite". I used the 3 oz of Romano Cheese for the nutritional calculations. Works Great with any Alfredo recipe but love it with All Recipes Garlic Alfredo Tilapia or just with tortellini, spinach, & chicken.
You can use 1% milk or fat-free half & half if you want to but it does increase the calories, fat, & sodium.
Directions
Melt butter in a medium, non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Add cream cheese and garlic powder, stirring with wire whisk until smooth. Add milk, a little at a time, whisking to smooth out lumps. Stir in Parmesan and pepper. Remove from heat when sauce reaches desired consistency. Sauce will thicken rapidly, thin with milk if cooked too long. Toss with hot pasta to serve.
