    5 links bratwurst
    1 large clove garlic, crushed
    1 medium red bell pepper, chopped
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 cup chopped celery
    1 medium zucchini, sliced
    1 medium potato, peeled, chopped
    4 cups beef broth
    1 cup red wine
    1 can (16 ounces) tomatoes, chopped
    1 can (15.5 ounces) Great Northern beans, drained, rinsed
    2 cups uncooked shell pasta
    Salt and pepper to taste
    teaspoon chopped fresh chives
    Cheese, if desired


Remove bratwurst from casing and cut in chunks. In large stockpot, cook bratwurst over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes until browned on all sides.
Add garlic, bell pepper, onion and celery. Cook, stirring often, until tender. Add zucchini, potato, broth, wine, undrained tomatoes, beans, pasta, salt and pepper. Bring to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer, covered, over low heat 20 to 25 minutes. Stir in chives. Top servings with cheese.
