Yummy and fluffy, just like you remember! Yummy and fluffy, just like you remember!
Number of Servings: 12


    King Aruthur unbleached flour, 2 cups
    Baking powder, 4 tsp
    Baking soda, 1/4 tsp
    Salt, 3/4 tsp
    2 TBS cold butter
    2 TBS Crisco shortening
    Buttermilk, 1 cup


Handle this dough very lightly and quickly. Very little kneading is required.


Preheat oven to 450 Degrees
Add dry ingredients into bowl and blend quickly.
Add butter and shortening and mix in flour with fingers quickly until it looks like a bowl of fine crumbs
Make well in the center and add buttermilk, quickly mixing until just wet. Batter is sticky.
Drop batter on floured surface and lightly knead, folding over only 5 - 6 times.
Gently form into 1 inch thick flat.
Use small juice cup or biscuit cutter to cut into dough and form biscuits
Bake 15-20 minutes until lightly browned.
