Introduction

Ingredients

    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 large onion, finely diced
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1kg extra lean minced beef
    6 small cans whole peeled tomatoes
    1 can tomato paste
    300ml red wine
    1 tsp sugar
    1 tsp tabasco sauce
    salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Gently cook onions and garlic in olive oil in a very large frying pan or non-stick wok until onions are translucent.

Add minced beef and brown, breaking it up very well. Add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes. Add tinned tomatoes, red wine, tabasco sauce, sugar, salt and pepper, and cook over a very low heat for approximately 5 hours, or until the beef is extremely tender and the sauce is thickened and reduced. Stir frequently to prevent sauce from catching.

Serving Size: Makes 16 3/4 cup serves. Serve with the pasta of your choice.
