    1 lb extra lean ground beef raw
    1/2 cup raw brown rice
    1 onion chopped
    2 cloves garlic minced
    1/4 teas pepper
    1 can heinz no salt tomato sauce 14 oz (398ml)
    14 oz of hunts tomato sauce
    1/4 cup vinegar
    2 tbsp packed brown sugar
    1 tbsp dry mustard
    8 cups coarsley chopped cabbage


This is a lower salt version. For even lower salt use all no salt added tomato sauce. We really love this.


Mix first 5 ingredients in large bowl.
Mix next 5 in smaller bowl.
Put 1/3 of cabbage in 3-4 quart casserole.
Put 1/2 of beef on top. Spoon 1 cup of sauce on top.
Put 1/3 of cabbage on top.
Put other 1/2 of beef on top. Spoon 1 cup of sauce on top.
Top with remaining cabbage and pour remaining sauce on top. Do not stir. Cover and let sit for 20 minutes at room temp. Bake at 325 for 2 hours.
