    1 pound frozen soybeans
    1/2 teaspoon flavored oil (olive, walnut, grapeseed, sesame)
    1 pat (about 1 teaspoon) butter
    1 teaspoon kosher salt
    1/4 teaspoon black ground pepper
    1 clove garlic, minced


Place the soybeans in the top of a steamer set over a pot of simmering water. Steam until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and toss with the remaining ingredients. Serve warm.

For those who have not had soybeans this way, we squish the pods between our teeth, eating the bean, then discarding the pod.
