Number of Servings: 8


    Lentils, 2 cups
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    *Chicken or veg stock cubes KNORR per cube
    *Turmeric Ground, 0.5 tbsp
    *Green Cardamom Pods, 5 pods
    *Black Mustard Seeds, 1 tsp
    Boiling Water, tap, 4 cup (8 fl oz)


This freezes well, and keeps in the fridge for 4-5 days in a well sealed container. Vary the seasoning to your own preferences/storecupboard.


Dry fry onions on low heat for about 5 mins until soft, then add all remaining ingredients, bring to boil then simmer for about 20-25 minutes until dahl thick and creamy. This is great as a side dish to a curry, or as a snack with crudites or crispbread. It can also be thinned down with water to have as a soup.
