Introduction

Recipe I used on May 7. Didn't use as much oil as called for (only used 1/2 cup instead of 1 1/2 cups). Granola is a bit chewing instead of crunchy. I think I need to increase to oil to at least 1 cup next time. I could probably cut the sugar down a bit though. I definitely want to try to find some unsweetened coconut though. Ingredients

10 cups rolled oats/6 grain mix
    1 cup wheat germ
    1 1/2 cup coconut
    1 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup slivered almonds (can do up to 3 cups)
    2-3 t. cinnamon

    Heat until sugar is dissolved:
    1 1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 1/2 cup water
1 cup canola oil (original recipe is 1.5 cups)
    1/2 cup molasses
    1/2 cup honey
    1 1/2 t. salt
    add:
    3 t vanilla

Pour over dry mixture and mix well

Tips

It is a really good idea to pre-measure servings into baggies so you don't overeat this. It is loaded with lots of goodness, but plenty of fat too.

Directions

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Gather dry ingredients into a BIG bowl. Heat sugars, oil and water until sugar is dissolved. Pour over dry ingredients and mix well. Divide mixture between two large cookie sheets. Bake for 30 minutes, turn mixture over every 15 minutes. If you prefer crunchy granola bake for up to 45 minutes.

Add in any dried fruits you would like after you have baked it. Not included in the calorie count though.

Cool completely on cookie sheets before storing in air tight container.
