    1 lb fresh green beans, washed and snapped
    6 slices bacon, chopped
    1T minced garlic
    1 c water
    salt/pepper to taste


Place bacon in large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until fat begins to render. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add beans and water; simmer covered until desired tenderness. If liquid evaporates before beans are done, add a bit more water or broth. Season as desired.
