Ridiculously easy, and homemade means no msg! Ridiculously easy, and homemade means no msg!
Number of Servings: 4

    5 cups water or stock
    6 oz split peas
    1 smoked turkey wing
    1 red potato, cubed
3 baby carrots, sliced into coins
    1/2 tsp garlic salt
    extra garlic/garlic powder to taste
    Crushed red pepper to taste

Boil water or stock in a large, tightly-covered pot. Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 90 minutes. When cool enough to handle, remove the turkey meat from the bones, add it back to the soup and serve. Discard the bones. Surprisingly the smoked turkey alone, although high in sodium, does not add enough salt to the dish.

Alternatively, place all ingredients in a crock pot and cook on High for 6-8 hours, then cool and remove the turkey meat from the bones.

Makes four hearty 10 ounce servings.
