Introduction

After looking for a lemon-free hummus recipe, I decided to adapt one that I had found by Rachel Ray. I'm just not a fan of lemon, but feel free to add some lemon juice in substitution for the liquid! Ingredients

    I 15 oz can chickpeas (drained - save liquid)
    2 Tbs. Tahini (sesame paste)
    2 garlic cloves
    1 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1 tsp. cumin
    a dash of salt (to taste)

Tips

I found my Tahini in the world food section at my local grocery store.
Also, I had to work a little to keep my blender blending, just remember, you don't want to add too much liquid.
And if you like it even a little more spicier, adding a couple dashes of Tabasco really kicks it up!


Directions

I used a blender to make mine because I don't own a food processor. If using a blender, I would recommend mincing the garlic first, if using a food processor you can skip this step. Put all of the ingredients in the blender/processor and add about 1/3 cup - 1/2 cup of drained liquid. I started off with about 1/3, and added more as I went. Simply blend everything up, adding liquid if you need to, and once it is smooth, it's done. Serve with veggies, pita, or anything you'd like.
