    1 box of Duncan Hines Devils Food Cake Mix
    3 eggs
    1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1/4 cup red wine
    3/4 cup water (less if you want a less dense cake)
    4 servings instant vanilla pudding
    1 8oz container lite cool whip
    2 oz neufchâtel cheese


Preheat oven to 350F. Grease & flour a cake pan. Prepare cake mix according to directions. Use the lower fat recipe that includes replacing the oil with applesauce. Add 1/2 cup light sour cream & 1/4 cup red wine. Mix all together for 2 minutes with a blender. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour into prepared pan & bake according to directions. While cake is cooking, mix together pudding & neufchâtel cheese & then fold in half of the cool whip. Allow cake to cool completely & then break into pieces. In a glass dish put cake pieces on bottom layer. Spoon in pudding mixture until layer is covered. Add another layer of cake pieces. Top with rest of cool whip & chill. You can garnish with strawberries.
