    16 Oreo cookes coarsely chopped
    Lg box of Jello instant vanilla pudding(serves 6)
    3 cups 1% milk
    1 1/2 cups light cool whip
    1 cup reduced fat sour cream
    6 cups pitted sweet cherries
    2 TBS lemon juice
    3 TBS granulated sugar
    1/4 cup sliced almonds, lightly toasted


This was a lovely summer dessert and great way to incorporate lots of fresh cherries that were available.


Pit the cherries, add lemon juice and sugar. (Ours did not have lots of flavor just plain)
Coarsely chop Oreo cookies and place in bottom of trifle bowl.
Whisk pudding with milk for 2 minutes. Then whisk in the cool whip and the sour cream. Pour half of this mixture over the cookies.
Add the cherries and the juice, reserving a few for the top. Add the rest of the pudding mix to cover. Top with remaining cherries. This can set for one hour to overnight covered in refrigerator.
Just before serving, top with toasted almonds.
