    1 tbsp. canola oil
    1 tsp. cumin seeds
    1 tsp. garlic powder
    1 cup white rice, uncooked
    3 cups chicken broth
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 15-oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained


Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add cumin; cook for 30 seconds. Stir in rice and garlic powder. Add broth, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.

Stir in black beans. Cover and heat until warmed through, about 2 minutes.
