Ingredients

    8 granny smith apples; peeled cores and sliced
    cup unsalted butter
    3 Tbsp flour
    2 tsp vanilla
    cup minus 2 tsp water
    cup packed brown sugar
    cup granulated sugar
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 recipe prepared 9 inch double pie crust

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium sauce pan melt butter on medium heat. Add flour and stir until thick.

2. Add vanilla and water and stir well.

3. Add cinnamon, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Stir well, bring to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer for 5 minutes.

4. Place apples into a large deep bowl and pour butter sauce of them. Mix well until all apples are well coated.

5. Pour apples into prepared bottom pie crust.

6. Cover pie with top layer pie crust and close edges.

7. Using a pastry brush, brush milk over finished pie top for a nice glaze. Sprinkle some brown sugar and white sugar over top milk.

8. Bake for 45 minutes or until top begins to turn golden brown. Remove from heat, cool down and enjoy.
