    Apfel Kuchen
    (Grandma’s Recipe)

    2 cups flour
    4 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    1/3 cup chilled shortening
    2/3 cup milk
    2 medium apples, sliced
    1/2 cup sugar
    1 tbsp cinnamon
    2 tbsp Butter


Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening finely. Add milk. Roll or press out into 10x15-inch pan. Press slices of apple into batter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, then dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes, until crust is golden brown and apple is tender.

Serving Size: Makes 15 3" pieces.
