Introduction

Ingredients

    500g (about 3 cups) dried navy beans soaked overnight
    3 1/4 cups water
    50g (about 1/4 cup) brown sugar
    1/2 cup splenda
    100g dark molasses
    1 tablespoon mustard powder
    1 tablespoon liquid smoke
    1 tablespoon onion powder
    1/2 cup ketchup (Heinz works best)
    150g lean diced salt pork (or bacon or ham)

Tips

Thickens as it cools. *Warning!* smell while cooking may drive you insane


Directions

Soak beans overnight in enough water to cover plus an inch
Rinse and drain.
Place the beans in a crock pot and add all the other ingredients including above mentioned water. Mix well. Cook on low setting for 8-12 hours,Test for doneness one to two hours before end of cooking time. Beans should be dark but not blackened.

Serving Size: makes 10, 3/4 cup servings
