    Water, 6 cups (8 fl oz)
    Garlic, 3 clove, minced
    Split Peas, (16 oz. pkg.)
    Carrots, raw, 2 medium, chopped
    Onions, raw, 1 medium, chopped
    Cured Ham, 2 cups (Can use leftover ham if you have baked a ham earlier)


Before cooking peas always examine, sort, and rinse well. No soaking required.


Combine water, split peas, and garlic. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 1 hr. Add carrots and onion, Simmer for 30 minutes longer.
