Ingredients

    chuck stew meat 1.5lbs
    1 c celery, chopped
    2 c carrots, chopped
    1 c onion sliced
    1 14.5oz can diced tomatoes
    1 8oz tomato sauce, no salt added
    3/4 c pearled barley
    5c beef broth
    1 tsp salt
    .5 tsp ground sage
    .5 tsp thyme
    .5tsp black pepper

Tips

of course, by using lower sodium products, you could lessen the impact of the sodium level in this recipe.


Directions

1.Combine all ingredients in slow cooker.
2.Mix well.
3. Cover and cook over LOW heat for 7.5-8 hours.

NOTE: At about 7.5 hours, I added a cup of water…it looked like it needed a little more liquid.
