Making your own granola base allows for more creative flavors and is economical to boost. Making your own granola base allows for more creative flavors and is economical to boost.
Number of Servings: 20

    Oatmeal (plain), 5 cups dry
    Cinnamon, ground, 2 tbsp
    Cloves, ground, 1 tbsp
    Allspice, 1/2 tbsp
    *Walnut Oil, 1/3 cup
    Honey, 1/3 cup
    Brown Sugar, 3/4 cup
Nonfat Dry Milk Powdered, 1/2 cup
    Pecans, 1/2 cup

Serve 1/4 cup over yogurt or eat as cereal with milk. I like to add rasiens and ground flaxseed when ready to eat.

Mix all "wet" ingredients in a pan and heat on low until the sugar is disolved. It is easy to subsitute your prefered oil such as pumpkin oil or peanut oil for a different base taste, the same for the sugars. In separate bowl mix all dried ingredients. Again, changing the nut and spices used- even changing oatmeal to bulger- can makeover this base to your own preference.

Mix dry and wet ingredients and stir to all is generally moist. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes, stir and then let rest in oven with door ajar as it cools off. Once cooled, store in glass jar.

Serving Size: makes 20 servigs at 1/4 to 1/3 cup.

Number of Servings: 20
