Ingredients
-
1/4 cup Chili Powder
1/4 cup Cumin Powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Oregano leaf (or oregano leaf powder)
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground pepper
(I listed all these ingredients in the nutrition info. Who knew all these spices had calories?!)
Directions
To make: Put all in jar and shake well or mix in a food processor until mixed. Store in an airtight jar for up to six months. Makes approximately 3/4 cup. To use: sprinkle on ground beef or chicken as you would any store bought taco seasoning. 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon is about the same as 1 packet of store bought taco seasoning (used to season 1 pound of meat).
Note: recipe creator (see website listed above) says you can add 1/4 cup salt to this mix. Then you would use 3 tablespoons per pound of meat. I left the salt out. You can decide how much salt you need when you make your food and count it separately in the nutrition information.
Serving Size: Use 2 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon per pound of meat. Also add about a half cup of water per pound of browned meat.
