    * Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup
    * Cocoa, dry powder, unsweetened, 1/2 cup
    * Baking Powder, 1/4 tsp
    * Salt, 1/4 tsp
    * Water, hot 1 tsp
    * Instant Coffee, 1/2 tsp
    * Margarine, melted 1/4 cup
    * Splenda, 1 1/4 cup
    * Applesauce, 2/3 cup
    * Egg, fresh, 1 extra large
    * Vanilla Extract, 1/2 tsp

1. Preheat oven 350 degree. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with foil. leaving enough overhang to make two handles. Lightly spray the foil with nonstick spray.
2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Combine the water and coffee in a cup; stir until the coffee disolves.
3. Combine the melted butter, sugar, applesauce, egg, vanilla, and the dissolved coffee in a medium bowl; beat with a whisk until blended. Add the flour mixture; stir with a whisk just until combined. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake until a pick inserted into the center comes out with a few fudgy (not raw) crumbs clinging to it, 25-28 minutes; do not over-bake. Cool in the pan on a rack.

Refrigerate the brownies in an airtight container; they'll last about 1 week. Just be sure to return them to room temperature before serving.
