Number of Servings: 8


    2 large eggs
    2/3 C 2% milk
    3 slices of bread, torn in pieces
    1 tsp basil
    1 tsp oregano, or Italian seasoning
    1 1/2 lb 80% lean ground beef
    1/2 C chopped onion
    1/2 C chopped carrot
    1 C cheddar cheese
    1 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp pepper

    1 C tomato sauce
    1 C brown sugar
    2 tsp prepared mustard


Beat eggs, add milk & bread - let stand.
Stir in onion, carrot, cheese & seasonings.
Add beef - mix well.
Shape into loaf in greased baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Pour off fat. Make topping and spoon over loaf (save some for serving). Bake another 30 minutes.

Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Once sliced and on plate, spoon a bit more sauce over the top.
