1 lb. Ground beef
1 clove garlic
1 Large Onion (Chopped)
Green Pepper and/or mushroom if desired (not included for calorie comp purposes)
4 cans tomato sauce
2 cans diced tomatoes (with juice)
2 small cans tomato paste
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Sugar, Salt, Pepper, Sweet Basil, and Oregano to taste
The longer you can leave the sauce to simmer, the better it will taste. This is definitely one of those dishes that tastes better heated up.
This recipe makes enough to feed a hungry family of six at least twice over (with leftovers every time). You could probably pare down the recipe, but I never get the taste right when I try to make a smaller amount).
Once beef is browned, all add tomato ingredients and give a good stir. Then add seasonings to taste.
Heat until starts to bubble through, then turn down to low heat to simmer for at least 10 minutes. Stir in parmesan cheese. Serve over spaghetti, or use in lasagna.
