Husband said it's the best Clam Chowder he's ever had. Husband said it's the best Clam Chowder he's ever had.
Number of Servings: 6


    2 slices lean bacon, chopped
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c diced celery
    2 6.5 oz cans chopped clams, drained (reserve juice)
    1 # Red Potatoes, chopped
    1/4 t. dry thyme
    1/4 t. powdered garlic
    1/2 t. salt
    1/8 t. black pepper
    2 c. 1 % milk
    1/3 c. white unbleached flour


Cook bacon, celery, and onion together till onion is tender and bacon crisp in a 2 quart sauce pan. Add water if necessary to keep from sticking. Add clam juice, potatoes, thyme, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook covered for about 15 minutes stirring occasionally till potaoes are done. Mix flour and milk and add with clams. Cook until thickend;just to a boil.

Serving Size: 6 1 c. servings
