Introduction

Ingredients

    .5 c dark raisins
    .5 c gold raisins
    4 c all-purpose flour
    .75 c granulated sugar
    1 tblsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 stick melted butter
    2 eggs
    2 c buttermilk
    1 tsp caraway seeds
    pinch of cream of tartar

Tips

Slightly sweet dessert bread. Delicious with butter or plain.


Directions

Preheat oven 325 Deg F. Sift together all dry ingredients. Add melted butter and mix with dry ingredients. In a separate bowl beat eggs, add buttermilk. Add to dry ingredients. Add raisins and caraway seeds.

Place in two well greased loaf pans. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Check with a cake-tester at 50 minutes.

Cool on rack. Slice when cold.

Serving Size: Makes 2 loaf, about 20 slices.
