    2 tbsp. canola oil
    2 tsp. minced garlic
    2 tsp. cumin seeds
    2 cups raw brown rice
    5 1/2 cups chicken broth
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    2 15-oz. cans black beans, rinsed and drained


Heat oil in saucepan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and cumin seeds; cook for 30 seconds. Stir in rice. Add chicken broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 45 minutes, until rice is done. Stir in beans, and heat through.
