Ingredients
-
1 pkt Active Dry Yeast
1 cup milk
2 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp fine salt
3 Tbsp light brown sugar, packed
10 Tbsp butter
1/3 cup baking soda
3 cups warm water
2 Tbsp coarse salt
Directions
1. Warm milk in saucepan until 110 degrees; pour into medium bowl and sprinkle in the yeast. Let stand 2 minutes.
2. Stir in brown sugar and 1 cup flour. Dice 2 Tbsp butter and stir into the mix.
3. Add remaining 1 ¼ cups flour and fine salt to make a sticky dough.
4. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead. Add more flour if needed until smooth but slightly tacky, about 5 minutes.
5. Shape dough into ball and place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour.
6. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Grease a large baking sheet; set aside.
7. Punch dough to deflate and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide into 6 pieces.
8. Roll and stretch each piece into a 30” rope. Form each into a pretzel shape.
9. Dissolve baking soda in 3 cups warm water in a shallow dish. Gently dip each pretzel in the soda solution then arrange on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake 10-12 minutes or until golden.
10. Melt remaining 8 Tbsp butter in a shallow dish. Dip hot pretzels in butter, turning to coat.
