    1 pound lean ground beef, drained and rinsed
    2 Tbsp. dried onion
    2 tsp. dried garlic
    10 cups water
    4 tsp. beef base
    2 14 1/2 oz cans tomatoes, diced or crushed
    1 can tomato soup
    2 cups sliced carrots
    2 cups sliced celery
    2/3 cup uncooked barley
    Bay leaf, parsley, salt , pepper - to taste


Cook hamburger, drain and rinse. Stir in onion and garlic flakes and cook briefly with meat. Combine remaining ingredients in good sized soup pot. Bring to a boil and let simmer an hour or a little more until vegetables are to your liking.
