Ingredients

    2/3 cup uncooked whole wheat macaroni
    2/3 pound Ground sirloin
    1/3 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
    2/3 cup chopped onion
    1 clove garlic, pressed
    4 oz no salt added tomato paste (I use organic tomato paste in mine)
    1/2 cup water
    2/3 cup ketchup
    1 small bay leaf
    2/3 tsp ground black pepper
    1/8 tsp dried oregano
    1/8 tsp dried basil

Directions

Cook pasta according to package directions (omit salt when cooking); drain and set aside. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with mushrooms, onion and garlic. Blot excess grease. Add tomato paste, water, ketchup, bay leaf, sugar and spices. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. Stir in cooked drained macaroni. Bring to a low boil to warm through. Remove bay leaf and serve.
