    2 tbsp. Finely chopped onion
    1 tbsp. Vegetable oil
    3 tbsp. Real Bacon Bits (like Hormel)
    16 oz Can navy or great northern beans (do not drain)
    15 oz Can chicken or vegetable broth
    1 Carrot, peeled and finely chopped
    1 stalk Celery, thinly sliced
    1 tbsp. Onion powder
    1 tsp. Garlic powder
    1 tsp. Dried parsley
    Pepper to taste
    1 tbsp. Tomato paste


Combine onion, vegetable oil and bacon bits in large saucepan. Saute till onions are tender.

Stir in remaining ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat, simmer uncovered for 10- 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cook's Notes

Real Bacon Bits (not Bac-os) are found in the same area with the croutons and salad dressing. Bacon grease can be substituted for the vegetable oil if you are not watching your numbers (cholesterol, weight, saturated fat, etc.)
