Ingredients
-
1 pkg. yeast
1-1 1/4 c. lukewarm water
3 c. flour (white, whole wheat or any combination)
2 tsp. salt
Tips
Great served with homemade hummus, or made into a sandwich.
Directions
Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water. Stir in flour and salt. Stir into a rough sticky ball. Knead on floured surface until smooth, adding more flour in necessary.
Divide into six balls and knead until smooth and round. With a rolling pin, flatten each until about 1/4-inch thick and about four or five inches in diameter.
Cover with a towel and let rise for 45-minutes. Arrange the rounds upside down on a baking sheet(s). Bake in a very hot oven (500 degrees) for 10-15 minutes or until browned and puffed in the center.
The breads will be hard when they are removed from the oven, but will soften and flatten as they cool. For sandwiches, split carefully and fill with any combination of sandwich makings.
