Introduction

I adapted this from the lowfat cheeseburger pie recipe added by another member. I used whole wheat flour instead of bisquick mix, and I added vegetables and used less shredded cheese. Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    3/4 cup whole wheat flour
    .5 tbls baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    1.5 tbls shortening
    water
    1 lb ground turkey
    1 small onion
    1 clove garlic
    1.5 cups green beans
    1 cup peas
    1 cup cottage cheese
    1 egg
    .25 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown the turkey, along with the garlic and onion. Make a dough out of the flour, baking powder, salt, shortening, and water and roll out and place in pie pan. Cut up the green beans. Add the turkey and veggies to the pie pan and mix. Mix the cottage cheese and egg and layer over the turkey and veggies. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top and bake for 30 minutes or until golden.

Serving Size: 1/6 of a large pie pan
