    6 cups milk
    3/4 c rice
    1/2 c brown sugar
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp cardamom
    1/2 c raisins
    1 bayleaf or 1/4 tsp ground bayleaf


combine rice, milk and bayleaf. cook on high til a rolling boil, stirring often. turn down to simmer, still stirring occasionally (milk will have a crust when you stir). Simmer til it thickens (wooden spoon has coating). remove from heat, add all other ingredients(take OUT bayleaf if using whole). stir and refrigerate. Kheer will thicken more as it cools.
