Ingredients

1 cup steel cut oats
4 cups 1% milk
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp salted butter
(above are included in calculations)
Add-ins (not included in nutrition info) - fruit (especially dried), sweeteners, nuts, pumpkin, apple butter, other spices, etc. etc. (raisins plump overnight!) can all be added with the oats to water/milk. Toast nuts, seeds, wheat germ, flaxseed/meal with the oats in the saucepan. You can dry toast or use coconut oil instead of butter. Endless possibilities!
Tips
Be sure to stir when re-heating or oats will stick to the bottom of your pan. Ask me how I know ;)
Directions
(Optional, butter included in calories) Toast oats and cinnamon in butter in a large pan until lightly browned and toasty-scented.
Bring milk to a light boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in oats and cinnamon. Cover and remove from heat.
Let sit overnight, stir and reheat in the morning over low heat or in microwave.
