Basic simmered-and-baked Publix™ smoked semi-boneless ham with sucralose blend glaze. Basic simmered-and-baked Publix™ smoked semi-boneless ham with sucralose blend glaze.
Number of Servings: 25

    7-pound Publix™ semi-boneless smoked half ham

    cheesecloth and kitchen twine
celery bases and leafy tops (about 4 stalks, equivalent)
    one sweet onion, in wedges
    one red onion, in wedges
two carrots, in chunks (about 1 lb)
one head of garlic, slightly smashed
    water, qs

1/2 packed cup sucralose-brown sugar blend

The servings are estimated at 25 4-oz portions, based upon probable amount of weight in bone, and waste.

Cut veggies into chunks and tie in cheesecloth bags. Don't bother trimming or peeling veggies: the skin and peelings add color and flavor, and will be removed after cooking anyway.
Place veggie packets in the bottom of a large stock pot.
Place ham face down on top of veggie packets.
Add water to almost cover.
Simmer lightly for 20 minutes.

Remove ham to baking pan, face down.
Remove and discard veggie packets.
Make a glaze with a bit of the pot liquor and the sucralose-brown sugar blend. May also add cinnamon, pie spice, cloves, or whatever other seasonings you like (not included in recipe nutrition data).
Cover ham with foil. Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes.
Uncover and continue to bake, basting frequently, another 15-20 minutes until internal temperature is 120-130°F.
Remove to carving platter and rest 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Reserved pot liquor is good for boiling potatoes or other starch to serve with the ham.

Save the bone and remaining (reduced) pot liquor for soup.

Serving Size: Makes about 25 4-oz. servings
