A cross between dumplings and noodles, this dough is like pie dough. A cross between dumplings and noodles, this dough is like pie dough.
Number of Servings: 12


    3 cup flour
    1.5 tsp salt
    3 tsp baking powder
    3 tbsp. shortening
    3/4 cup water


We usually start by boiling a whole chicken, cut up, in the broth before removing the chicken and cooking the pot pie.


Mix the flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in the shortening until it makes the powder look like meal. Stir in the water, then knead briefly. Add more water if it's too dry. Add a little flour if it is too wet. Form the dough in three separate balls and roll out to about 1/8" thick. Cut into rectangular shapes. Drop into boiling broth and cook until the float and are tender.

Serving Size: Makes 12 servings of 5-7 dumplings
