    1 small onion, diced
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 tbsp water
    1/2 tsp oregano
1 1/2 cups (or one 15.5-oz can) cooked black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup cooked corn kernels, rinsed
    1/4 cup bread crumbs
    1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    2 tbsp parsley
    2 tsp chili powder
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 tsp cumin
    1/4 tsp smoked paprika
    1 pinch cinnamon

We like our food spicy so we tend to up the chili powder, cumin, and paprika.

These burgers didn't work very well on the grill as they fell apart easily but we did find success when we pre-cooked them and reheated them on the grill.

Uncooked patties freeze very well.

SautÚ onions, garlic, and oregano in a little water (or olive oil) until onions are translucent. Set aside to cook a bit. In a large bowl mash black beans and corn with a fork. Add onion mixture and the remaining ingredients to the bowl and mix throughly until the ingredients are mostly sticking together. If the mixture is really dry or crumbly add a very small amount of water. Divide mixture into four patties (approx. 4-oz each) and cook in a hot non-stick skillet until both sides are browned and the patties are warmed through.

Serving Size:ámakes 4 quarter-pound patties
