This recipe is so easy and tasty I never eat store bought applesauce anymore! This recipe is so easy and tasty I never eat store bought applesauce anymore!
Number of Servings: 3


    4 Medium sized apples (any kind but red delicious, my favourite is Gala)
    1/4 cup of apple juice (or water)
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 dash nutmeg
    Brown sugar to taste (approx 1 tsp)


1. Peel, core, and quater aples
2. Cut each quarter in half and place in sauce pan
3. Add apple juice or water to the pan so that the bottom is covered in liquid.
4. Cook apples until they are soft.
5. Add cinnamon and nutmeg.
6. Mash all together with a potatoe masher.
7. Add brown sugar to taste - if you use sweater apples you can skip the sugar.
8. Eat warm! It's a gread side for pork chops or tenderloin or even as a desert.

  • I searched this after I put my apples to cook I am glad to know I basically did the same thing except the brown sugar. I used 6 apples sprinkled cinnamon & tiny nutmeg slowing them now :) I'm so excited I guessed right! I plan to use it for baking muffins & stuff! - 9/4/08

  • I accidentally added too much nutmeg, and it was a little too much cinnamon for my taste...however it was still good. We had it with broiled pork chops...very yummy! - 5/22/08
