Ingredients

    1 1/2 cups Whole Spelt or White Wheat Flour
    1 cup rolled oats
    1 tbs baking powder
    1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 tbs ground flax whisked with 6 tbs warm water
    1 1/2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk
    2 tbs vegan butter, melted
    1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
    2 tbs evaporated cane juice

Directions

Combine oats and non-dairy milk in a large bowl and let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk together applesauce, melted butter, evaporated cane juice and ground flax mixture and add to oats. Add in the dry ingredients and stir until just blended. Pour a ladle-full of batter onto preheated waffle iron and bake according to manufacturer's instructions.

Serving Size: Makes 6 round "heart" waffles.
