Introduction

Tzimmes was a childhood holiday favorite. So with a little tweeking, we made it paleo to work for our diet now. Tzimmes was a childhood holiday favorite. So with a little tweeking, we made it paleo to work for our diet now.

Ingredients

    1 large butternut squash, peeled & cubed(~10 cups)
    1.25 cups prunes, dried
    2 large carrots, peeled & chopped
    1 large sweet potato, peeled & cubed
    1 large onion, chopped
    1/2 jalapeno pepper, minced
    3 TBS. coconut oil
    1 1/2 lbs. turkey (I get boneless, skinless breasts)cube
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1 tsp. cinnamon, ground
    1 tsp. dried oregano
    1 tsp. dried thyme
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 cups low-fat/low-sodium chicken broth
    1 TBS. orange zest
    1/2 cups orange juice
    1/2 tsp. black pepper

Tips

You may have to add more chicken broth, but if you do, add to the calorie count.


Directions

Get a large pot out.
Cut all veggies and cube the turkey.
Throw everything into pot along with the rest of the ingredients.
Cover and cook on med-low. Make sure to stir ocassionally.
Serve piping hot.
