Introduction

Very easy - 5 ingredients Very easy - 5 ingredients
Number of Servings: 9

Ingredients

half a pound - about 9 slices of bacon fried, drained and broken into pieces
    one onion chopped
one head cabbage chopped - bite size
    one large can tomato juice
    one can diced tomatoes

Tips

This was the first time making someone else's recipe. I found it came out very thick, I may consider adding more tomato juice next time. It reminds me of cabbage rolls without the meat and rice.

Directions

1. Fry the bacon, drain and break apart - place in soup pot.
2. Saute the onions in about half of the bacon grease until tender. Add to the soup pot
3. Lightly saute the chopped cabbage in two batches (I actually put a little water in to more or less steam it and help it to cook faster)
4. Add the soup pot.
5. Add the tomatoes and tomato juice.
Simmer about an hour until the cabbage is tender
