Introduction

Ingredients

    3 cups flour
    1 Tbs shortening (optional)
    1 Tbs salt
    1 Tbs yeast
    1 1/4 cup warm water
    1.5 Tbs sugar

Directions

Let water, yeast, and sugar brew for a couple minutes. Add 2 cups of flour, mix. After mixed, add salt and shortening (shortening is optional - it's purpose is as a preservative). Mix. Add at least one more cup of flour, more as needed.

If kneading by hand, knead for 10 minutes. Shape into loaf pan. Let rise 45 minutes. Put in cool oven, turn oven to 400 degrees, bake for 25 minutes.

    Pretty easy to make and seemed good but the bread needed longer to bake than the 25min. suggested. - 10/14/08
